The film 'Guntur Karam' starts with a flashback. Veera Venkata Raman's father Satyam is jailed for a murder and his mother Vasundhara leaves him and comes to Hyderabad. Veera Venkata Raman spent his childhood in his native village and grew up to be involved in the chilli business. Here after coming to Hyderabad, Vasundhara enters politics on the advice of her father Venkat Swamy and becomes Law Minister. Satyam has served his sentence, after coming out of jail he does not like to meet anyone. Vasundhara's family wants Veera Venkata Raman's signature on an agreement, severing all ties with her mother. The move is aimed at stripping him of the status of legal heir so that Vasundhara's son from her second marriage can inherit the political legacy.

The film's director Trivikram Srinivas has also written the story of the film. The weak narrative and screenplay of the film spoiled the entire game. The emotional scenes that should have happened between mother and son did not come out bright. Due to which the audience could not connect emotionally with this film. After watching the film, it seems that in order to please Mahesh Babu, Trivikram Srinivas kept the entire focus of the story on his character, this seems to be the biggest mistake of the director. As the story of the film progresses, it starts losing its impact. The specialty of South films is that they work hard on the action scenes, if equal amount of hard work had been done on the story and script of the film, it could have been a better film.
Mahesh Babu has played the role of Veera Venkata Raman in this film. His action avatar in the film is fine because the body double is useful in it. But when it comes to acting, Mahesh Babu fails in every scene. Even in the film, his jugalbandhi with Srileela does not emerge. There was nothing special for Sreeleela to do in this film. Ramya Krishnan leaves a good impression with her acting in the role of Venkat Raman's mother Vasundhara, but looking at her performance in the film, it seems that she has still not been able to come out of the image of Sivagami Devi of 'Baahubali'.
The performances of Jayaram as Veera Venkata Raman's father Satyam, Prakash Raj as Venkat Swamy, Jagapathi Babu as Marx, Murali Sharma as Srileela's father Pani, Sunil as Marx's brother Lenin have been impressive. Even better work could have been done from these veteran stars, but the film's writer-director Trivikram Srinivas seems to have made a big mistake here too. Manoj Paramahamsa's cinematography is satisfactory. The film's editor Naveen Nooli had complete freedom to cut unnecessary scenes, but in this case he also missed the mark. Thaman S's music is full of noise.
